Lots of people will say yes, and up until recently I would have been one of those people. I would have told you not to post more than 3 times, unless what your posting is very high quality content. The reason for me and many others saying this is because you don’t want to clutter your followers feed with a shit ton of content that they may not see as “high quality”.
But with the current landscape of Instagram, I would say there’s no limit, as long as you’re smart about it. Let me explain those two things.
1. So, I am now saying, I believe there’s no limit because of the current climate or landscape of Instagram. What I mean by that is Instagram is very slowly(and not totally) becoming facebook, in regards to pay to play. Instagram use to be the King of Organic Reach(a title now held by Pinterest) and its still a great place for Organic Reach, but they have been killing it off more and more as time goes on, of course because they want you to pay for ads. So what does this have to do with the limit of posting you should do? Well with organic reach falling, that means when you post something and you have a large following, only a smaller and smaller percentage of your followers may see your post in their feed. With this being the case, I believe one can now worry less about cluttering your followers feed not only that but I feel as if one should see the need to post MORE content.
2. BUT, you still need to be smart about it, and when I say this I pretty much mean, post quality content! And use hashtags wisely, as in, do not use the same ones over and over, create different types of content where you can branch out and use different hashtags maximizing your reach.
So my opinion, backed by what I see and live(I’ve been experimenting with the algorithm quite a bit lately), you shouldn’t have to worry about posting too much these days, in fact you should be posting as much as you can(as long as its genuine high quality content) to maximize potential reach.
But honestly now that I reflect back, this has always been the case, there has never been a limit as long as you post genuine high quality content, theres no cluttering your followers feed, they come to the feed for the content, they want to consume it! (Again as long as its good) if I’m following a tech page that makes cool videos on tech, I’m not going to care if they post 20 videos a day, if there good, i’ll watch!
So there’s your answer. Fuck Limits, break the rules. Produce awesome content and no one will care how many times you post a day.
p.s theres an underlying theme in all marketing questions… and that is, all this other stuff we talk about doesn’t really matter(well it does) BUT IT ALL STARTS AND COMES BACK TO THE CONTENT. If you have great content you can break all the rules! Create great content and things will fall into place, I promise.
Another P.s Some of the greatest content producing sites have horrible SEO(you know that thing in marketing that IS SO IMPORTANT), but still gain traffic. Why? Because the content wills it.
Click bait, fake thumbnails, fake videos, fake opinions, and trolling, all in the name of attention and likes.
I have been seeing an overwhelming trend of people faking content for views and likes. So much so I felt that I needed to write this post. I think it goes into the mental health and acceptance aspect of social media, people wanting attention and likes so bad, there willing to make a fake video.
LIKE WHY??? If you have the energy to go out and do that, you have the energy to capture/create high quality AUTHENTIC Content that will resonate with your audience so much more than all the hate and trolling you will receive on your fake content.
Lets break this down:
We all see this on a daily basis, Video Titles on Youtube and Facebook, Or article titles saying some OUTLANDISH or controversial shit, maybe something we know not to be true but still need to click it just in case, or maybe the old “man tries to hug a lion… you won’t believe what happens next”, you know something of that nature, now I don’t have a problem with this, but theres a difference between a factual descriptive attention grabbing title and a totally fabricated click bait title. Any way, like I said not as big of a deal as fake thumbnails, and definitely not as big of a deal as fake videos.
This is a huge pet peeve of mine, and when combined with a shitty click bait title I get even more pissed, like you will see a title that says “top 10 crazy animals you didn’t know existed” and the thumbnail will be some crazy ass photoshopped animal, and if your actually watch the video that picture isn’t even in the video.
Or you see the “10 things you missed” and something in the background is circled with an arrow pointing to it, I notice this on a lot of videos but I watch a lot of marvel videos so look at this one below, they straight up circle a wakandian soldier and did a zoom in crop effect and put kill monger in it with a title of “top 10 Easter eggs you missed in infinity war” like wtf LMAO, and then when you watch this clip they won’t even discuss the shit displayed in the thumbnail. To me this is a bad practice, you can have nice looking thumbnails without doing that shit. But still, all the things I’ve talked about so far have nothing compared to the next subject.
I can not believe some of the fake content I am coming across, people are faking some rediciously stupid videos. Again, there doing this for likes, for attention. Its crazy.
Example 1: In this video this kid claims to be quitting marijuana and goes to throw it away in a dumpster, the only thing is in the video you can see the box in which he’s dumping it safely into within the dumpster.
Example 2: This made me even more mad then the 1st example, just because like, at least for the 1st example its something I could believe happening, this video is so staged, this kid goes on an adventure to search a river, in that river he just so happens to find like 5 iPhones, 3 cameras, bags with money in it, and all sorts of other shit thats in 1 foot of clear water, and none of the items were buried, so like, smh. I just don’t get why people do this shit, lol.
I’m aware these videos can not be embedded, click the “Watch on Facebook” to view them.
In conclusion: Don’t Fake Content Kids! It’s not a good look.
Marketing can be a never ending black hole. With so many different places to advertise, all the fees it takes to stay into business, web hosting, services, and all the other marketing expenses can get overwhelming, your paying for ads on FB, IG, Twitter, Youtube, Google, your paying $300 a year on web hosting, $500 a month on SEO Services, and countless other things, then you hear about influencer marketing and think it could grow your business, but you don’t want to fork over any more money for marketing expenses. Well, I show you some ways that you can snag some effective influencers without paying them money.
We all know influencer marketing is huge, and for good reason. Influencer Marketing can bring tremendous value to your social status. Right away it adds social proof to your brand, it shows that you have partnerships and that someone other than yourself endorses your brand, someone that people look to. This drives a ton of new traffic to your page and products.
The thing is though, is that Influencers can be pricey, especially if your looking for someone with 2 million followers. So I wanted to share the strategies that I use to scale my social media accounts with influencers without paying them.
First of all, you need to realize some one does not need 2 million followers to be an influencer, that for sure makes them a more effective influencer, but even someone with just one follower has the potential of influencing that one person.
Reaching out to multiple Influencers that want 500 dollars for a post can bury you in fees very quickly. I would recommend a few things if you want to start using influencers to grow your brand.
For me to lay this out, lets say your a soccer page on Instagram with 5k followers. Here’s what I would do if I wanted to start using Influencers without any money to do so.
Now first, you need to stop thinking only about how an influencer can help you, and you need to start thinking how you can help each other, this is especially important when your not paying them, if your paying them, you tell them what you want and they do it, but if you not paying them you need to provide them with enough perceived value that their willing to help you out.
The way I do this is mostly with; Shoutouts, Features, or Joint Giveaways.
So for this method I tend to look for people in my niche that have less followers than my page but still a decent amount, they usually are always willing to help out a bigger page in hopes of sharing their audience, the same reason your looking for an influencer.
I will also look for people with the same amount of followers as me, and I will usually reach out to people with double the amount of followers I have, but in my experience if you reach out to people with more than double the amount of your followers, they see that as them having all the power and that your really desperate for an influencer so they will ask for money, but it doesn’t hurt to ask! I have formed partnerships with influencers with hundreds of thousands of followers for free on a page with only 10k followers, its all how you structure and word your proposal.
And when I say look for influencers, all you have to do is simply search hashtags that are related to your niche and start reaching out to those people.
So once I find a list of influencers I want to reach out to, I start thinking of ways that could benefit us both, as I said before, I usually use shoutouts, features, or joint giveaways and the influencers are usually all for it and super excited. Let me explain each method for those who may not understand fully.
I will email the influencer something like “Hello, We noticed your page and love your content, when reviewing your page we see many opportunities for the both of us to grow. We would Love to do a shoutout for shoutout if you are willing to partner up for some great marketing with High ROI and no cost!”
Then I would precede to work out the details on the actual post. (Image, Caption, Time, etc.)
Features are like shoutouts, but in my experience make for better content, which means better engagement, which means, well you get the picture. Features would be, me looking for awesome soccer players with the right amount of followers as described above, I would message them saying “Hello, We love your content, We’re a soccer page that shares only the best content in this niche and we would love to feature some of your content with a shoutout to you of course, let us know what you think or if you have any other ides on ways that we can help each other grow” now if your sticking to people with less or around the same amount of followers as you have, this message should be enough for them to get on board.
Then you just use a repost app and repost their content to your page, or you download their content off of their page and you change it up a bit to make original content and then you post it.
Now this is good for both of you, it gives you content that you didn’t have to create yourself (curated content), and it gives them one more place to share their content giving them more reach and more traffic which means more sales, but you probably figured that out. This method is different from a shoutout because Im not requiring them to give me a shoutout, what I do is I take their content and change it a little bit or edit their videos to make new original content, you don’t have to do this, but it makes for better content and every-time I do this, those people will either repost it cuz they think its awesome that they got shared or they will give you a shoutout anyway on their wall or stories telling people to go check out their feature, people love being featured, Ive only ever had one person say no to me being featured. Being featured makes people feel important, loved, it gives them social proof, its just beneficial to both parties all the way around.
Now giveaways are a great way to increase your audience. If you don’t do giveaways I would highly recommend figuring a way out to do them, they are extremely beneficial. Now if your doing giveaways why not reach more people for free.
So here’s what I would do, lets say we’re going to give away a soccer ball. I would find an influencer and Direct Message them something like “Hey we love your page, we are thinking about doing a free giveaway, we were looking to partner with someone for this particular giveaway, we would cover the cost of the product, We think our audience would love you and vice-versa, we are very interested in hearing your thoughts, let us know!”
Then you would work out the details which would be, you guys post the same image, and the caption would discuss the giveaway and the way to enter the give away is to like the post, follow both accounts, and comment “I WANT IT” or whatever you want them to comment. This is driving both audiences to the other ones page and requiring them to follow to enter, increasing both pages follower count, the like and comment are giving you more engagement which makes Instagram’s algorithm favor your post, which leads to more traffic, which leads to more, well again you get the idea.
And there you have it, those are some methods that I am using to reach out and make deals with influencers that help scale my brands, and as you get bigger so do your free influencers.
One thing I can not stress enough, is the power of the DM. Do not be afraid to reach out, even if you think the person will say no or not even reply, who gives a shit, just keep moving on to the next one until you land one.
Marketing is all about being creative, one part of being creative is realizing that money is not the only thing that holds value in this digital age.
Someone recently asked me online how they could get more Likes or Followers on their FB Page. Before I could answer someone else jumped in the thread and told this person to BUY likes and followers.
SMH, This is a bad idea.
Now I know it can be discouraging. You take all this time to create a nice FB page or even a website, and you start putting out content regularly, you try to build up your brand but not getting the traffic you expected. Weeks, maybe months have passed and you only have a few scattered likes and followers. You type into google how to get more followers and all these services pop up saying you can pay “200” dollars for “10,000” followers! That looks pretty nice to you right about now.
Please, don’t do this, it will hurt you in the long run.
For 99.99% of these services, the accounts are either; bots or ghost followers. Your not getting a real, engaging audience, your just getting a bigger number under your followers, a number that will hurt you. Some may not care and want to add bots or ghost followers just to appear to others that they have a following, although this may sound nice, again, this will hurt you.
You see when you add a bunch of ghost followers or bots, that’s a huge percentage of your audience that is not engaging with your content, thus bringing down your engagement rate down dramatically. Facebook and Instagram will see this and think that no one finds your content interesting because out of the 10,000 people that follow you only 10 people engaged with the content. This will lower your ranking and position in search results.
So all in all, buying Followers is definitely not a good idea, the only way I would endorse the idea is if a new company(all the ones right now are not legit, unless you know of one, let me know in the comments) got a bunch of social users to sign up with them, categorize those social users by interests and hobbies and then those users got paid for engaging/following with the companies clients that they we’re actually interested in. That would be the basic model needed for me to get behind it, because as of right now, most if not all services only offer bots or ghost followers, which are not doing you any good.
What about Likes?
Now, buying Likes, in my opinion, can’t hurt anything other than your wallet. If there are any negatives that I am missing please feel free to comment below. Buying likes can get you some decent traffic and exposure. If you have a particular hashtag on one of your posts and you go to that hashtags feed and see the top posts have around 5000 likes, so you buy 6000 likes for that post, now you are being displayed in the “Top Posts” Section, which offers a lot of visibility.
How to Grow Your Facebook Following, The Right Way
There’s no way to hack your way to the top, if there was than everybody would be up here. Instead of wasting money buying bots and ghost followers, why not do it the right way and spend that money on Ad Campaigns that will result in your brand growing a truly unique, engaged, and loyal audience.
You do not need to spend a million dollars on advertising, you can do as little as $5 a day and see results, but the more money you put in the more results you will see and the faster they will come.
If you need help on a FB Ad strategy check out my “3 Steps to FB Advertising on a Budget”.
You also do not need to spend any money if you don’t want to, you can go completely organic and engage with social users, join groups, and place free ads where they are allowed, its all in how you go about it, I have ran some really successful campaigns that were 100% organic, so I know anyone can pull it off.
The bottom line is, you can not hack your way to the top buying followers. You need to put in the work like the rest of us. Engage with your audience, Post interesting content on a regular basis, always look for creative ways to grow.
