This coronavirus was a travel bloggers worst nightmare I assume, travel blogging is only a small percent of what I do here, so I made by pretty good but I figured after a year and half of the rona, it was time for a little retreat down to Florida. I strongly believe in disconnecting from normal everyday work life so you can recharge doing whatever you want to and come back 200% better. I try to do it much more often but as we have already stated, that hasn’t been as easy as it usually is. I been dying to get back to a festival.
But at last we made it down. I Flew allegiant down, and let me just say, its a blessing anytime you step off a plane, but sometimes allegiant got me feeling more blessed than other flights. My Mommy performed the airport pickup pretty flawless, only had to wait like 2 mins with the girl that just had to get off the plane 1st cuz she couldn’t miss her Lyft, like theres not countless more out there…
I could be wrong but I don’t think we even made it back to the house from the airport before we were stopping at a local spot for some grub. I forget the name, something by the sea, lol, I need to get the name cuz I need to do a review on my food. Mini preview of the review, the food was pretty dam good. I got this big ol’ burger that I had to unhinge my jaw to eat lol, not the biggest ive seen(thats what she said) but still a big one.
From there we went back to the house and settled in a bit. First thing you do when you get to Florida is go to the beach so after enough settling we went down for a walk. First time on the beach in like a year and a half felt very nice and super calming for the spirits. We got word that the grandparents were back at the house so we headed back for the reunion. It was nice seeing them after so long.
I believe we all went out to eat that night? Shit I cant remember thats what I get for waiting so long to write this. But we pretty much hung out back and forth between the house and the beach while going shopping and out to eat.
We decided to go on a fan boat ride cuz everyone had always wanted to, so why not? It was good times. The operation was ran by a character by the name Captain Jed, I think? Could have been Captain Joe… berry was calling him captain hank cuz no one knew what his name was lmao… my mom thought we had the wrong place cuz the sign said captain Jims and she thought we need captain Jeds cuz of a misspelled review, but we took google maps to the location so idk how we would be in the wrong spot, we wouldn’t lol…old people am I right?
So Captain Hank finally shows up and we’re off, this dood is pointing out all these birds and giving us the rundown of them, and its like, for all I know he could have been bullshitting all of it, maybe he has a bird book, idk… he had named all the alligators and told us their and his life story lol… he told us how he had a pet alligator and all of this crazy nonsense, but he was a good guy, funny.
From there we pretty much did more of the same, eating, chilling, sun bathing on the beach. We did go down to the dock and see some manatees up close, which was pretty cool. These things are fucking huge, and they look like big turds or something lol, like if you bumped into one of these things while swimming, you would shit yourself, then there would be two turds floating lol.
Okay, as I always say, I try not to be a hater. There’s enough hate in the world, it don’t need me to spread any more, but sometimes I cant help myself, you know what I mean. So that being said, fuck ohio.
Am I right?
Ohio, has to be the worst state out of all of them. I mean what does it have going for it? Its flat and boring, kinda like Indiana.
My personal experiences with Ohio has me never going back there, fuck that place…. Lets get into it.
So I think the first shitty experience I had there was when me and Ryguy were driving back from our Washington D.C trip, and we stopped at this rest stop/gas station to refuel. I get gas, then we decide to run in real quick and get something to drink and eat. Not thinking of it, cuz its like 3 am and we are the only people there and there is like 20 empty pumps, we leave the car at the pump. We go inside and get our goodies, 10 min at the most, we’re getting close to the car and the gas station attendant starts yelling at us that we better get out of here cuz he just called the sheriff and they are on their way cuz your not suppose to leave your car at the pump. Im like okay guy, I get for safety reasons, but no need to be a dick about it, people do it all the time, calm the fuck down, Idk what this guys deal was, but it really rubbed me the wrong way. And sorry to say, all of ohio must pay the price for this mans unpleasant demeanor.
Next incident, back when I was cutting trees for FTS we got a job in Ohio. So first of all we have to wake up early as fuck and drive to and from Ohio everyday, so already its not a fun time, especially since this went on for weeks. Then when we get there, our job site, is this fucking run down trailer park that has a “bubbles” with thousands of cats that just shit everywhere. So we’re stepping in shit, our ropes our getting covered in shit, its not a great time, hell its not even a good time, its a horrible time. It was as shit show, and again, all of ohio must pay the price of this situation I found myself in.
Next and last, but the biggest situation, that really turned me off ohio, was an incident me, ryguy and crystal went through on our way to Camp Bisco. So we stop somewhere off the highway in Ohio to hit up Walmart and get groceries and other necessities for the trip, no problem. We do that, we get the stuff loaded into the car, then ryguy cant remember if he bought a charger or not for his phone(he did) so he goes back in to get one real quick, meanwhile me and crystal are outside in my car. My cars AC didnt work at this time and it was hot, it was that bad on the highway, but in a sitting parking lot, its unbearable, so I started driving around the parking lot in a big circle, even going behind Walmart, then ryguy hits us up, hes done, so we swing in front and pick him up. Then we decide to hit up penn station before we get back on the road, so we go get penn station, while walking in to sit down and eat, ryguy runs over to the bank atm real quick for cash, he comes back we sit down eat then leave. All of a sudden I look in the rear view mirror, and there is a cop pulling us over, I’m like oh fucking great.
We were riding clean, EXCEPT, like one freaking pill that ryguy had lol, he shuffled around, trying to hide it up his butt or something. He must have never watched cops, cuz they always say they see the people moving around… I see its a girl cop and she’s alone, she walks up the ryguys side, I roll the window down and she tells me she pulled me over because I didn’t use my turn signal. I asked her if she was sure cuz I use my turn signal leaving my fucking driveway, ever since I got pulled over for switching lanes without using it. She said “yep pretty. Sure.” … okay thats weird I thought… boom I look to my left and theres a cop now at my window, I go “wholy shit, you scared me!” And he goes “why would I scare you?” 😐 “cuz I didn’t know you were there man lol” I replied… I look around and now theres like 8 cops and 3 different cars including a blacked out SUV.. im like wtf is this… all of sudden the squad leader or whatever the fuck you call him comes over to talk to us.. he says “yeh, I clocked you back when you were driving behind Walmart man, what were you doing back there”…
I left out a huge laugh and he looked confused, I was like “my man, my ac is broke and my dood had to go back in so me and her were whipping around the lot to get the air floor, were dying” meanwhile as Im saying this we are all currently in the car dying, all sweaty, so if any of us were nervous we had good cover lol. He kind of looked like oh shit, this dood might be telling the truth, then he talks to the chick and she mentions how ryguy shuffled, and they talk to us all separately… they are trying hard to get me to give them permission to search the car… there like “we realize you guys are all packed up, were not gonna pull your crap out, just a quick look” to which I reply, “id rather just get back on the road, we’ve wasted enough time here and im about to pass out from the heat”… he looked defeated and he said well im gonna have a dog come out and walk around the vehicle and see if he gives a signal, which apparently they dont need permission to do lol, I was like FUCK…
But then when he goes on the radio to call the dog unit in they call back in saying they are busy and its gonna be a hr or more and they were like fuck you guys can just go, you could tell they were really pissed that they didn’t get us, but fuck them, I was really pissed that they profiled us based on the fact we drove behind a Walmart, like dafuq. It was like a whole sting operation unit they had out there and they fucking pounced on us then lied to us about why they pulled us over, guarantee if I did get in trouble for something, old Seth could get me off. But nothing happened, we got back on the road and all were freaking out and had anxiety thru the roof. When I was talking to the cop I was blowing ass all over, I was like sorry bruh I got IBS, he said oh thats alright, lmao I almost died laughing in front of him, he eventually moved to the other side of the whip.
Nashville is always a cool place to visit. Awesome bars on roofs, beautiful ladies, and a pretty chill vibe. But to be honest we didn’t even make it into downtown Nashville this time. We meant to go but the day we tried it started raining, so we went to see a movie instead. Ended up seeing Toy Story 4, and I ended up almost crying at the end, but don’t worry no spoilers here, I would recommend anyone going to see it, its a well done movie, the animation is superb.
While in Nashville I really wanted to check out the zoo, little fun fact about me, I LOVE ZOOS. Anyway, I’m glad I made that suggestion because we ended up running into Yelawolf! Like how crazy is that, we ended up talking to him a little bit then parted ways but the funny thing is we ended up going the same direction on the same path so we were pretty much walking around the Zoo with Yelawolf, pretty surreal. That was for sure the highlight of the Zoo because other than that it kinda sucked. They were putting away all the animals, which I guess was out fault for showing up late but still, the layout of this zoo sucked as well, I’m not sure who designed it, but they need fired lol.
Other than that, we didn’t do much else but drink beer and go swimming in the pool, the pool was well needed. I got some pretty cool shots with the new 360 camera and my water proof case. I’m really glad I bought that camera, cant wait to see what else I can capture on it. We went out to eat a few times, can not remember the places names, but all of them were really good, I was satisfied.
We watched Knock Knock, starring Keanu Reeves, and as much as I love the guy, shit did that movie suck, but it was so bad that it was entertaining and funny. I got more than a few laughs from it.
All in all we had some good times with the family, if you haven’t been to Nashville, you’re missing out.
You know I had to go back to Las Vegas. What better reason than Electric Daisy Carnival? None. I decided soon after I got home from Life is Beautiful that I was going back for North America’s biggest dance festival.
I have been wanting to go to EDC for a very long time but each year it just hasn’t worked out. This year with my flexible work hours it worked out quite well 🙂 ! I had to bring Lindsey along with me, so that was a good time.
We decided to stay at the Stratosphere because I saw it the first time in Vegas, and I really wanted to do the sky jump, we’ll get to that later. Anyway, the stratosphere was a super nice hotel, the casino was nice and the bars were top notch, lol. Everyone else arriving that day was for EDC, we ended waiting in line for like an hour just to check in.
Once we got to our room we unloaded all our crap and started planning out what exactly we were going to do. We got there Thursday and the festival didn’t start until the Friday so we had a night to relax and check out the sights/food Vegas had to Offer.
We walked up and down the strip, checking out some really cool shops, ended up buying fucking clothes, smh. We checked out the bars, ran into a dam robot making drinks! Lol it was crazy, and that robot made a dam good drink, I tell you what! We checked out the hotels and casinos as well but we didn’t gamble really, we didn’t want to lose all our money the first night.
We did stumble upon, Johnny Rockets, inside The Flamingo, and wholy shit am I glad we did. That place is bomb, and I’m not gonna lie, we both love In-N-Out Burger but we both think we may like Johnny Rocket’s More! If you can believe it!? It was that good, I’m not gonna try to even come up with the words again, it was hard enough the first time when I left them this Awesome Review!
We went to The Hard Rock Cafe Casino/Venue, totally saw DJ Khalid on our way in and it was super crazy, only because no one else really noticed him. I’ve seen famous artists before and its crazy but for some reason its even crazier when your the only one that notices them, he was low key af, I would have talked to him but he was on the phone, perhaps thats why no one else was bothering him lol. I bet he does that to move thru a crowd, he skirted off in a mini van with like 8 doods, weird as shit and super crazy that I had to make a video of it. Lindsey didn’t even notice him, but the funny thing is was she was trying to take a picture of the sign above the doorway and totally snapped a pic of him by accident, everything but him is blurry in the picture lmao!
Of course we had to check out the legendary fountain. I thought it was gonna be lame and overrated but dam was that a badass fountain lol. It shot like 60 feet in the air and it had crazy lights and the lights and fountain were synced with some jamming music, it was pretty tight, I wasn’t expecting all that. I just thought it was a fountain that shot up like 15 feet every so often, that shit was a show in its self lol.
After we checked out the strip and all that good stuff we headed back to our room to get a lil rest before the festival started. We woke up a lil early and moved our chill sesh up to the pool where the tunes were on point, I was pulling soundhound out for literally every song lol. The pool was on the roof and it had really cool chill spots and a pretty sick bar, and you already know the view was stellar. It was crazy how many people were in Vegas for EDC, almost everyone up chilling at the pool was going. Met a lot of cool people.
First Night of EDC
Getting to EDC was a journey all in its self, the traffic was way crazier than I had even imagined, but once we got out our uber and headed to the line, we got in fairly quickly, and the security checkpoint was a breeze, didn’t really check out bags, barely a pat down, so that was nice, made the lines move very quickly. Once we walked up the ramp and got eyesight over the hill, the electric sky was revealed to us, literally one of the craziest-cool looking things I have ever seen, it was like a living organism I cant even describe how much shit was going on.
The lineup was seriously stacked for all three days, which was awesome because I had to buy tickets for this festival before the lineup even dropped, so I was worried, but in the end I was not disappointed.
The first night the people I had to see were; Lauren Lane, JOYRYDE, Mike Will Made-it, Kaskade, Chevvy Chase, Diplo, Borgore, Excision. We saw them all and they all killed it, we saw some other people through the night but I don’t remember the names. Throughout all of this amazing music, we were constantly stumbling upon something new and crazy, it was so fascinating to see how much work they put into this festival. It was so big and awesome that the moment I walked in I got a little sad that it only lasted 3 days, lol. There was a lot of really cool and nice people, like usual, always nice leaving “real life” where you usually have to deal with asswholes, and go hand out with a bunch of awesome like minded people, always a good time!
There was a shit ton of people here, I knew it was North America’s biggest dance festival but I had no idea it was going to be as crazy as it was, and that was only Friday, the least busiest day of the festival. It was crazy, but the crowd was so awesome and their was nothing but good vibes, there was only one show that the crowd was shit, I’ll cover that when we get to the third night, but other than the 1 show, the crowd was really crazy. I’ve been to a lot of festivals, concerts, and shows, but I have never been to a festival (Biggest One in my Country) where you could get literally right up front and have 3-5ft all the way around you to dance, it was amazing, everybody was with it, usually its cramped and you never have room to really dance if you get close, you all just kinda bounce together lol.
We smashed on the food pretty quick, it was like we were trying to taste every option the first night. I will say my all time favorite food truck there was called Burgerfest, I got some BBQ Bacon burger, good this may have been the best burger I have ever eaten, I should really find them online and leave them a good review lol.
After we ate everything in the place we headed back to try and get some rest before the next onslaught of epicness.
Second Night of EDC
We walked around and tried to experience everything we missed the first night, I think you could be there a week before you saw half the shit there. There were some really cool light installations that we were chilling in and we met some cool people that we kicked it with for awhile, I believe they were from Indiana as well, small world. We saw; Moksi, Strange Club, Detlef, Space Jesus, Toneshifterz, Tiga, Kygo, Hardwell, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Zeds Dead, NGHTMRE, Cheat Codes, and various others throughout the night. Everyone I just listed straight killed it, kygo and tiesto back to back was epic then they did a set together, shit was insane. Kygo is becoming a quick favorite of mine. It was my first time seeing toneshifterz, I thought they were pretty sick. This was my second time seeing cheat codes, there dope as hell. I don’t even remember the ride back to the hotel that night, I passed out the second we got in our uber, good thing too cuz the traffic was ridiculous!
Third Night of EDC
The third night was, excuse my language, FUCKIN INSANE, I’ve never seen so many people in my life. I thought the first few nights there were a shit ton of people, but the last night was like double that. I wish I would have taken a video of what it was like, we were moving in huge herds, everyone just pushing forward to get to the next show, it was the craziest thing. If someone would have tripped their poor souls would have been trampled. The third night we found out post Malone was gonna be there lol so we were like shit we gotta see him. We were actually seeing Big Wild at the same stage right before hand so it worked out perfect. Big Wild was insane, I Hope I have videos of him straight killing it, he’s insane! Then post was next and the crowd started to shift, we got a good spot but not too close. But it didn’t matter he drew a huge crowd, before we knew it we were packed tight as shit could barely move. And of course you had people just showing up trying to push there way to the front, which is fine if your cool about it but these people were asswholes pushing people and shit trying to fight, not a cool vibe, but still we stayed to see post. But that post malone crowd was definitely the only negative thing about EDC. We saw Borgeous, GRAVEDGR, Big Wild, Rezz, Headhunterz, Post Malone, Zedd, Tchami, Eric Prydz, Black Tiger Sex Machine, 1080p, Martin Garrix, Zomboy, Afrojack and others that night. They all killed it, my favorites were Big Wild and Headhunterz, such insane shows.
All in all, Electric Daisy Carnival was by far the most insane festivals Ive been to, I feel like I didn’t even get to experience it all, I don’t think theres anyway you could in that short amount of time, I might just have to go back.
Plus while EDC’s going on the have something called EDC Week where all the clubs and venues got sick shows and after parties, you could easily spend thousands on tickets alone.
So much to do, for anyone thats never gone, I would highly recommend going! Totally worth the money!
The picture above is a french toast breakfast sandwich and is was dope. go get it. at roxys.
Seeing Pretty Lights Live at The Fillmore in Detroit was a last minute plan that me and Ryan threw together just in time. On our way up to Detroit we stoped in pokagon to go tabagogging with Ryan’s family, I didn’t even know what it was until we did it, it was a lot of fun though and Ryan got some sick footage with his GoPro. We continued on our journey to meet our friends Laura and GIRL and to get down to some pretty lights. We got to the Fillmore and had to wait in a decent line, it wouldn’t have been bad if it wasn’t so cold. What was crazy to me is that there were girls wearing short shorts and skirts and all this other crazy shit, it was too darn cold for that. The first night I had to accidentally sneak in a knife because I forgot to unclip it from my bet, I was worried they would find it and take it. But anyway we got inside and Pretty Lights began fairly quickly, we all danced our asses off and had a great time. It was nice getting away and spending such a good time with good friends, thats what life’s all about.
Me and my Brother decided to go down to Nashville to see my Mom’s new house down there. She and my stepdad sure do have an eye when it comes to picking out awesome houses. Her place is stunning, in a wonderful area, and she has a pool as well as a awesome guesthouse with a hot tub, its a little slice of heaven. Her place is just outside of Nashville.
We went out to explore Nashville with my family, it was a lot of fun, such an awesome city. Almost every bar had an upstairs deck area over looking the river which was a stunning view. The weekend we happened to be there, college races were going on the river so it just added to the scene, it was awesome. There were a lot of underground bars there too which I found very cool, we walked by the Coyote Ugly Saloon so of course we had to walk in there. And of course everyone in there was on the bar going crazy taking belly shots and that sort, I thought it was a good time but we didn’t stay long.
We walked in to a candy story down there and ran into Kelly Ann Conway, President Trump’s Campaign Manager, I was hoping to run into Reese Witherspoon, but I suppose it was kinda cool to see her in person, didn’t move me one bit though, but if I had ran into Reese Witherspoon that would have been a different story.
We pretty much went thru every bar, and I gotta say they were all really cool, all of them had country themes and had a lot of nice wooden furniture and nice lighting, and seemed like a good atmosphere and nice people in each bar we went to. I really want to go back and have a drink at night on one of those rooftops, sounds like a good time.
We went to a local spot down there, and for the life of me I cant remember the name, all I know is I got some pulled pork from there and it was amazing, not the best I ever had but some of the best, and they had a nice selection of sauces there. Ill have to edit this later once I ask my Mother the name of that Restaurant.
We enjoyed some Budweisers while we swam in the pool and relaxed in the hot tub while catching up with our mom and step dad. It was such a nice area in their backyard, there were houses near by but it was very secluded with their tall plants and fence.
I gotta say I loved the Nashville area and can’t wait to go back.
Life is Beautiful was a very unique experience as it was my first time attending the festival as well as my first time being in Las Vegas, I had been there once before, but I was young so that doesn’t count, the only memory of that I have is Treasure Island lol. Anyway, Life is Beautiful had an amazing line-up, and after having to skip the amazing line-up that Camp Bisco had to offer I had to make it to Life Is Beautiful, I made all my arrangements months in advance and invited my friend Paige to come with me.
I didn’t expect anything less when I found slot machines in the boarding area and throughout the airport, to be honest it seemed more like a casino than an airport. That might be a bit of an exaggeration but you get my point. I think I had to wait a while for Paige’s plane to land, I stopped in a bar and got a lil pregame in before we hit the town.
We took an uber from the airport to our hotel and driving into downtown Vegas was a treat, the place doesn’t even seem like a city, its more like a giant theme park, or at least that’s how It feels for me. We stayed at “The D” which was right down the street from the Life Is Beautiful Festival on Fremont. The hotel was super nice and their casino was nicely laid out, we didn’t walk away with millions but I do have a 0.05 voucher from that casino so you know, that’s something, lol.
The first day of the festival was incredible, we had some tasty drinks and had some amazing food. Their were about 25 different food trucks their, each one a unique and delicious choice for any hungry belly. They had some really cool art displays, like the art motel and all these other buildings dedicated to art which had amazing pieces from artist all over.
The people at this festival, like most other festivals, were all about peace and positive vibes, its so nice to get away and spend a week listening to awesome music with such like-minded people. We met a lot of people and I actually ended up talking to a news reporter and landed a interview with her and ended up on the news, lol. Paige got a video and you can see it online, I I have to download it before they delete it, we talked for ever, I really popped, but then they cut me up into like 15 seconds and make me look dumb, lol oh well.
Through the three days of the festival we heard some amazing sets by Lorde, 2 Chains, Slightly Stoopid, Zeds Dead, Tchami, Big Gigantic, Kaskade, Wiz Khalifa, Schoolboy Q, Tycho, Lil Dicky, Gorillaz, The XX, Pretty Lights, MGMT, De La Soul, Vince Staples, Pusha T, Big Wild and a few others. Each performance was top notch, I loved every minute of it. Pretty Lights had the best set hands down, it was perhaps my favorite set I’ve seen of him and I’ve seen quite a few, the lights were on point. Another show that was sick was Slightly Stoopid, I’ve been wanting to see them for a very long time, and they did not disappoint.
The Festival grounds were littered with amazing art pieces, like this bear that was poly-art, it was super psychedelic and had amazing colors when lit up at night. There were super detailed murals on all of the walls, we were surrounded by such awesome art on all sides it was easy to get lost.
All in all the festival was amazing and as long as they have a good line-up I would recommend going, it was money well spent.
Unfortunately we were only in Vegas for a few days for the festival so we had limited time to check out the entire city. I wanted to bungee jump off the needle down there but we didn’t have time. Another thing we wanted to check out was the pawn shop featured in Pawn Stars, but again ran out of time. One cool thing we did do, was go to a Criss Angel Show, and let me tell you that blew my freaking mind! If you are thinking about going I would say stop thinking and just do it!! Me and Paige walked out of there questioning reality, that’s how good it was, he’s incredible and I tip my hat, he really is the mind freak, lol. We also hit up the zip line on Fremont and that was really cool, it wasn’t too much money and I would say its worth it, plus you can buy pictures of yourself at the end, its a lot of fun, better try it.
We had a lot of fun going to Vegas, had a lot of of laughs, A LOT OF GOOD FOOD, met some cool people, lost some money but walked away with 4 cents, I plan on coming back for EDC 2018, so that’s a good time I look forward to.
This was an interesting one. I had never heard of 400 Fest before, the only reason it popped up on my radar was because of Pretty Lights and Mac Miller. With it being so close to home I had to get tickets. I bought two and ended up bringing Lindsey along for the ride. The place we stayed this time was much better than where we stayed in Chicago, kind of far from the venue though.
So anyway, we get to the Indy 500 Motor Speedway, and I’ve never been here before and I’m like, WHOLY SHIT THIS PLACE IS HUGE!!!! I never realized how big that place was, and when we were walking in I was so excited, I was thinking dam this is gonna be a huge event/venue right? NOPE. They made us walk the whole way across to the other side and tucked us back in this lil corner and I’m just shaking my head thinking of all the wasted potential! They could have a huge festival in that place, using the whole area and make it really cool, but they just have this one stage back in the corner, I digress.
The music was on point though, what else do you expect from Pretty Lights and Mac Miller. Chainsmokers finished, there alright, I like a few of there songs, but not really for me, I Thought Pretty Lights should have closed, but it was very apparent that I was the only one that thought that.
The crowd wasn’t really felling pretty lights it seemed like, no one in the crowd other than me was moving it seemed like, I was calling them all crazy in my head, especially when the chainsmokers came on and everyone when nuts.. so it clearly wasn’t his crowd, and most were there for chainsmokers, I guess lol. We saw Cheat Codes and that was the first time I saw them live and I was feeling them a lot, I had heard a few of their songs before but after hearing their set I’m for sure a fan. Major Lazor was there as well, he killed his set and had some dope ass visuals!! DNCE was there and that was also my first time seeing them, they put on a good show, you should check em out.
So overall the music was on point, the crowd was weak, the venue had potential but was not utilized properly in my opinion, also there was like a circle of 10 cops every other 50 feet, no joke, it was the most cops I had seen in my life in one place, it was very locked down. I had heard some talk of a lot of under covers being there, so overall it was a sketchy vibe, but still had to blaze to Mac Miller lol.
We went to the Art Museum as well which was really cool, if you have never been there you should check it out there are some amazing pieces in that building. And the surrounding area, is simply beautiful, with gardens, fountains, paths, and trails you can walk through, its a great place to take pictures. The food they offer isn’t half bad either.
What a treat to see Pretty Lights Again! I’ve seen him too many times to keep track but every time it feels like its the first time, lol. This was how I kicked off my new found freedom, which was no doubt the best choice for my first event to celebrate freedom.
I headed to Chicago wit Lindsey, when we arrived at our hotel, we were both less than satisfied, but what are you gonna do? Make the best of it, that’s what! We got a nice buzz going, ate some edibles and headed out for the first day of jams.
This was the first time I had been to Northerly Island, and I gotta say that I thought the Venue was pretty sick. They had an area with seats for when you needed to take a break or sneak off to do some party snacks. They had very limited drink offers, as most events do, but these choices were some off brand stuff I never even heard of. Usually whether its a festival, show, concert, event or whatever, they usually have Bud, Budlight, Coors, but none of that here, AND this off brand beer was like 18 bucks a tall boy, no no no, way too much, good thing I had my flask! CHEERS!
Once the show was done they let us loose on downtown Chicago, Me and Lindsey found a Philly cheese steak place that was the 2nd most bomb cheese steak I ever had Ill have to look up the name of the place for a proper shout-out.
The next day before the show we got nice and lit and walked around Chicago. Out of all the times I’ve been to Chicago, I’ve never been to Cloud Gate, so we made sure to check that out, which was really cool, but it was hard to get a cool picture because of all the people.
We also checked out the aquarium, which at first I was super excited for, I had been hearing good things for quite some time. But I was heavily disappointed in our experience, it was super costly per person, you could never afford to bring more than 1 or 2 family members, and once we got in we found many large large fish crammed into little aquariums, it was very sad and I was surprised the animals were being held like this, one fish was so big it literally could not turn around in its small aquarium. The dolphin show was cool and they had a very big swim area. Got food from there that wasn’t all that great either, so overall I wouldn’t recommend it, but if you don’t mind forking over the dough theres a few cool things about it.
Those were the main highlights of this trip to Chicago, been there many times, and I’m sure ill be there many more times in the future. LOVE THE WINDY CITY.
I have always loved Florida, it is such a beautiful and relaxing state, it has a very unique atmosphere mixed with all sorts of demographics. I feel like Florida gets a bad rep for being all old people, although that statement is ALMOST true there is an abundance of nightlife and youth that I found quite refreshing.
My Mother has a house down in New Smyrna Beach and asked me if I wanted to go down with her, due to me switching jobs I had the freedom to go. I had not been to this house since I was a little kid so I was excited to see everything and see if I remembered anything.
I took a cheap Allegiant Flight out of Fort Wayne, IN, Allegiant always has good prices but sometimes their planes are kind of cramped. I was sitting with a 30-Something-year-old and his daughter, they were cool people, talked just a little then I was out within minutes until we landed.
My Grandpa picked me up from the airport and drove me back to his and my Grandma’s house. They live in Venetian Bay, it is a beautiful and huge residential complex accompanied by a local pool and strip of shops including, A Happy Deli, which is to die for, I highly recommend it. Me and my Grandparents had a bite to eat their before we headed out to pick my mother up from the airport.
Once we got my Mom we headed back to the house in New Smyrna Beach. Immediately upon seeing the house I was flooded with many memories from my childhood, memories of me and my sister and brother chasing lizards and hoping to see crocodiles, it was nice to see those memories that are often not thought of.
The first day we got there the weather was not great but it was a heck of a lot better than what it was in Indiana, so I wasn’t complaining. We walked down the beach and I got in the water, there’s nothing more relaxing than a beach, but I don’t have to tell you. I loved every second of it, I wish we could have stayed longer so I could still be enjoying it, lol.
We ate out at a lot of places so I could get a taste of everything. The First day we ate at JB’s Fish Camp and I tried Alligator for the first time, and let me just say it was so delicious, if you’ve never had it I would highly recommend it and if your in the New Syrmna Beach area you should get your Alligator from JB’s.
We also stopped in at Norwoods Treehouse, which is my favorite spot hands down. They serve amazing food and the bar upstairs is a Tree House and its so freaking cool. The prices for the drinks weren’t bad either, and she made the long island pretty stiff, lol. Hands down I would recommend this spot to anyone in the area. A very popular spot that I walked through but did not eat at was, The Garlic, next visit I am for sure stopping in for a bite at this one of a kind location, I can’t even describe it but it was very cool, and would be the perfect romantic date for anyone.
SpaceX was launching a rocket while I was down there and we were all so excited to see it go off, I was trying to go to the viewing platforms at the Kennedy Space Center but no one else was down, what a shame, lol. It didn’t matter anyway as they delayed the launch until the next day. So the next day came and we went shopping, we totally forgot about the launch and we were in a surf shop when it went off. I was disappointed but didn’t care too much, the only way I thought it would be cool to see is if we went to the viewing platforms.
We stopped at the Canaveral National Seashore which was a cool national park, they had the biggest seashell mound there and we walked to the top, the view up there was stunning. It was nice being able to stamp another national park in my National Park Passport book, if your like visiting national parks I would recommend getting one, their pretty cool.
All-in-all, my trip to New Smyrna Beach was a successful one, I had a lot of fun with my mom and aunt as well as my Grandparents. We a had a lot of laughs and even more good food. I cant wait to head back.
